Mrs. Tammy Knight

I am a 1992 graduate of Richland School. I have always been a Richland and UT fan. I bleed orange. I have two grown daughters who I am proud of. My oldest daughter, Karra, is going to school to be a teacher. My youngest daughter, Tricia, is a cosmetologist. I have 1 granddaughter and 2 grandsons who are all perfect. I married my husband, Daniel, in 2017. After 5 years as a cosmetologist and working with the PTO at Richland Elementary, I became passionate about becoming a teacher. I started night classes at Martin Methodist College to be an elementary teacher and took a job as a one-on-one assistant who I followed from Richland Elementary to Richland High School. After receiving my early elementary degree and being a part of the special education world, I knew my passion for students who struggle was leading me to continue my education. I then went back to school and received my master's degree in special education through Western Governor's University. When a job became available to teach reading skills and English, I followed the protocol to gain an endorsement as an English teacher. I could not have found another job better suited for what I feel I was called to do. I get to work with students who desire to grow and be the best version of themselves. When I see one of my students graduate and being productive in the community, my heart skips a beat. As of the 2024-2025 school year, I have been employed at Richland School for 19 years. I have been a teacher for 9 of those years. The main things I hope my students take from having me as a teacher is to have self-confidence that they will succeed and to always put their greatest effort into everything they do.
