Matthew Baxter

My name is Matthew Baxter. I am a native of Giles County and a graduate of Richland High School. I received a B.S. in history with secondary ed. licensure from Martin Methodist College. I have served the education system of Giles County since 2012, both as a college administrator at what is now the University of Tennessee Southern and a public school teacher at a couple of our district schools. I currently teach multiple history classes at Richland, primarily TN and U.S. history. I also help coach several sports, including football, archery, and soccer. I live on a 3rd generation family farm and have spent most of my life working in and enjoying the outdoors. As a history enthusiast, I also spend a lot of free time researching the history of Giles County and compiling history of family lineage.
